Lisandro Martinez is revealed as a Manchester United Player for $53m

Lisandro Martinez has described his move to Manchester United from Ajax as an honour.

Following the additions of Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen, the Argentine is United’s third acquisition of the summer transfer window. The international player from Argentina agreed to move to United from Ajax for £46.5 million ($53 million) earlier this month. Depending on add-ons, that price could go up to £57 million ($68 million).

Lisandro MartinezMartinez was formally introduced as a United player on Wednesday via a social media video in which he donned the club’s 2022-23 home shirt for the first time.

Martinez told United’s official website that he is looking forward to reuniting with former Ajax coach Erik ten Hag and believes they will be successful in England.

“It’s an honour to be a part of this fantastic football club. I’ve worked so hard to get here, and now that I’m here, I want to push myself even more,” said Martinez.

“I’ve been fortunate to be a member of successful teams throughout my career, and that’s something I hope to continue at Manchester United. There will be a lot of effort to get there, but I am certain that we can achieve it under this manager and coaches, as well as with my new teammates. I’d want to thank Ajax and their fans for their unwavering support. I had an incredible experience there, but I believe the time has come for me to put my skills to the test in a different setting. Now I’m at the perfect club to accomplish this,” the 24-year-old stated.

Lisandro MartinezThe centre-back has accepted a contract with United until 2027. The deal, however, contains an option to extend for a sixth season. Martinez was a standout player for the Dutch champions in the 2021/22 season. He averaged two tackles, 1.9 interceptions, and 2.8 clearances per league game.

He is an excellent all-around defender. He has no flaws, although he may require time to adjust to the Premier League due to the more physical players he will face. If he can adjust to the heightened intensity of the English top division, he has the potential to swiftly become one of the game’s leading players. At 24, he appears to have a bright future with Manchester United.
