The Oval and Lord’s will host the Finals of the ICC World Test Championship in 2023 and 2025
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced today that the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023 will be held at The Oval in London, with the 2025 season set to be held at Lord’s.
Geoff Allardice, Chief Executive Officer of the ICC, expressed his delight at the confirmation of two historic sites for the next two cycles.
“We are pleased to be hosting next year’s ICC World Test Championship Final at The Oval, which has such a rich tradition and an incredible atmosphere, which is appropriate for such an important game on the calendar,” said ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice.
“Following that, we will bring the 2025 Final to Lord’s, which will provide as an appropriate backdrop to the ultimate Test,” he added.

“Last year’s final in Southampton between New Zealand and India was a riveting encounter, and I am sure fans across the globe will be looking forward to the next WTC final at The Oval.” I’d like to thank the England and Wales Cricket Board, Surrey County Cricket Club, and Marylebone Cricket Club for their assistance on behalf of the ICC.”
The legendary Lord’s Cricket Ground will host the World Test Championship final (WTC) in 2025, while the Oval will host the tournament in 2023, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said on Wednesday. The first three editions of the showpiece Test match would have taken place at three separate venues in England, with Southampton’s Ageas Bowl hosting the first WTC Final in 2021, which New Zealand won.
Australia presently leads the WTC cycle points table with a winning rate of 70%. South Africa is second with 60 points, led by Dean Elgar. In the current cycle, Australia and South Africa will also face off in a three-match series in December-January, which might have a significant impact on the final points table. India, who finished second in the first edition, is presently ranked fourth and has a chance to play in the final at The Oval.
