Hyderabad FC face tough 2-0 loss to the Mariners at the Salt Lake stadium

Hyderabad FC, who set out to Kolkata with the first ever all-Indian contingent, players and staff, in the Indian Super League, put on a resilient performance on their trip to the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata in a tough 2-0 loss against the Mariners on Saturday.

fcAgainst a tough Mohun Bagan side, the Nawabs went down to two first-half goals from Anirudh Thapa (7’) and Jason Cummings (45+2’), and will stay 12th in the league table after 14 games.

Keeper Gurmeet Singh put on a record-setting performance, pulling out 10 saves on the night, equalling a league record for a single game.

fcAlex Saji, Muhammed Rafi, Mark Zothanpuia, Lalchhanhima Sailo and Sajad Parray put in heartful performances but were outdone by two good moves by the Mariners.

Makan Chothe, Ramhlunchhunga, Abdul Rabeeh and Joseph Sunny all had half chances to find the net but gave their all throughout the game.

fcJeremy Zohminghlua, Amosa Lalnundanga and Vijay Marandi, three of Hyderabad FC many youngsters brimming with confidence, made their ISL debuts, infront of a 30k crowd, and did no harm to their reputation.

But the struggle to finish chances leaves the Nawabs with no points after a decent away performance at the Salt Lake Stadium.

fcThe youngsters are back in action in the league at the Maidaan on Saturday, February 17th, when they take on East Bengal FC.
