EFSI name 11 member Indian Team for 14th World Esports Championship
Global Esports unifying body, The Esports Federation of India (ESFI) announced an eleven-member contingent for the upcoming World Esports Championship (WEC) in Bali, Indonesia.

The contingent includes skipper Sarda, Hrishikesh Shenoy, Anshul Ajay Adarkar, Shuvajyoti Chakraborty and Ninad Ramesh Sonare booked their WEC berths after winning the Tekken 7 and Counter-Strike Global Offensive (CSGO) titles respectively at the National Esports Championships, which was thrilling competition with the participation of top athletes from across the country virtually.
The scheduled World Esports Championship, organized by the International Esports Federation (IESF), has announced proudly prize pool amount of $ 500,000 (approximately 4 crore INR). In addition to CS GO and Tekken 7, WEC will also have DOTA 2 and eFootball 2022 titles.
A DOTA 2 team, which qualified for the 2022 Asian Games, has been selected to represent India at the WEC as well. The team will consist of veteran athletes including Shubham Goli, Moin Ejaz, Ketan Goyal, Abhishek Yadav, and Vishal Verenakar. Vishal has been inducted in place of Krish.
As the eFootball is at its nascent phase in the online championship, ESFI is weighing options to conduct an offline football event, maybe in Delhi or Mumbai. The dates and venue for the qualifiers will be announced in some time.
A two-day National Esports Championship, a multiplayer first-person shooter esports named CS GO, saw the participation of 16 top teams from the length and breadth of India.
“NESC is always an arduous task for Tekken participants since our scene has progressed tremendously well and reached a new zenith. So, it’s a moment to cherish for me. It creates a perfect scenery of success for me after putting my blood and sweat into this game,” said Tekken 7-star Hitesh Khorwal aka rcool.
The upcoming 14th World Esports Championship Finals will be held in Bali, Indonesia. The finals have been scheduled from 27th November to 9th December’22.
The governing and unifying body of world Esports, IESF was started with nine members in 2008. The association is currently comprised of more than 111 member federations from across the world. The IESF unifies all stakeholders of world esports and builds an ecosystem for responsible and sustainable gaming globally.
