PlayStation has confirmed it won’t be in attendance at Gamescom 2022

PlayStation has made it clear that they will not be attending Gamescom 2022 in any capacity.

This information was provided by the publishing giant during an interview with the German newspaper Games Wirtschaft .  Unfortunately, this indicates that major titles such as God of War Ragnarok, Forspoken, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and PlayStation VR 2 can no longer be considered viable options.

This also serves as confirmation that PlayStation will not be making a presence at Geoff Keighley’s Gamescom: Opening Night Live, as Games Wirtschaft points out.

Since a result of this announcement, the presence of two of the top three console manufacturers at this year’s Gamescom exhibition will be formally eliminated, as Nintendo has also openly withdrawn from participation. Activision Blizzard, the publishing company that is responsible for games such as Call of Duty, Overwatch, Warcraft, and Diablo, will not be present either.

Back in March of this year, the Gamescom organisers made the official announcement that the annual gaming expo will be returning.

According to what has been stated, Gamescom 2022 will be a hybrid physical and digital event that will take place this year in Cologne at the Koelnmesse international trade fair and exhibition centre from the 24th through the 28th of August.
