The Usman brothers: First siblings to both win TUF UFC trophies

The battle between Usman and Pauga had its ups and downs. Coming into the fight, these two were fully aware that they would be a difficult matchup. During their time on TUF, these two recognised they would almost certainly face each other in the finale since they stood out throughout the season. And Usman proved he was the superior champion.

usmanFollowing a rather difficult first round, the Nigerian heavyweight found his target and won the fight in the second. Usman dedicated the victory to his late son in the post-fight interview.

Mohammad Usman knocked out Zac Pauga in the second TUF finals with a timely left hook. Pauga was knocked out by a single conscious-snatching strike on the canvas. Usman then put the last nail in the coffin with a big diving follow-up punch that finished the deal. Mohammad ‘The Ripper’ Usman, the brother of UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, won the TUF 30 heavyweight finale. The same award was also won by ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ to begin off his career.

The Usman brothers are the first siblings to win TUF.

Usman won the “TUF 30” heavyweight bracket with his victory. During the reality show’s taping, he defeated Mitchell Sipe and Eduardo Perez in demonstration fights by decision. He is now 5-1 in his last six amateur fights. With the victory, he also secured a six-figure UFC contract.

Kamaru Usman, the UFC welterweight champion’s older brother, was in Usman’s corner on Saturday and joined him in the octagon following Usman’s win.

With his brother Kamaru watching from the sidelines, Mohammed persevered through a difficult first round before landing a crushing KO shot with 4:27 remaining in the second round. The hit enthralled the Las Vegas audience, and Mohammed was soon rejoicing alongside his famous brother. Dana White, UFC President, awarded Usman with a trophy and a UFC contract.

usmanMeanwhile, Pauga looked to be out cold on the canvas for some time and was swiftly attended to by the referee and medical personnel. Mohammed’s victory makes him and Kamaru the first brothers in MMA history to win the Ultimate Fighter series, and they will be the 30th set of siblings to compete under the UFC banner.
