Joao Victor, a Brazilian midfielder who won the Indian Super League title with Yellow and Black of Hyderabad in 2021-22, will continue to lead the team as captain in 2022-23.

Goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani, striker Bartholomew Ogbeche, and winger Nikhil Poojary round up the club’s leadership team ahead of the new season.

“As I always say, being a captain is not a problem for me,” the enthusiastic 33-year-old told the reporters before of the season opening. There is also more than one leader in the Hyderabad team.”

“There are several leaders and veteran players that assist the team’s younger members. But, in order to compete for the championship again, we must continue to grow and improve as a team,” he continued.

Bartholomew Ogbeche, the league’s top scorer and Golden Boot winner last season, is joined by Indian combo Laxmikant Kattimani and Nikhil Poojary.

Kattimani and Poojary have been with the team from its beginning and have established themselves as natural leaders in the dressing room. The trio completes the leadership group and will wear the captain’s armband this season in Joao’s absence.

On Sunday, October 9, Hyderabad FC will begin off their Hero ISL campaign against Mumbai City FC at the Shree Shivchhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune.
