Adam Azim defeats Aram Faryan over ten rounds claiming ninth professional victory

Aram Fanyan was defeated by junior welterweight contender Adam Azim through unanimous decision after 10 rounds. At the age of just 21, Azim claimed the ninth victory of his professional career. Azim was making a comeback after an inconvenient break in his typically quick ascent in the professional sport.

Since turning professional, he has fought eight times and won all of them, including six knockouts, and he now has his sights set on world titles, notably Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero’s WBA super lightweight world belt.

Fanyan opened the fight aggressively, with the first five rounds being difficult to call. Azim was only trying to get the better of them as Fanyan confidently threw combos. Azim gained the lead early in the fight, employing great footwork and head movement to escape Azim’s ballistic straight right punches, which had gotten him severe knockouts in the past.

Throughout the second part of the struggle, Fanyan displayed machine-like persistence in moving forward into the line of fire. Azim began to dominate and easily won every single round. The tenacious Ukrainian had great fortitude in resisting Azim’s imposing power, which had knocked out six men in his prior encounters.

Azim was a deserving winner, but the judges didn’t give Fanyan sufficient recognition, with scores of 100-90, 99-91, and 98-92 all going to the Brit.

After the fight, Adam Azim stated to Sky Sports: “He was a good opponent. I’m only 21 and got into the ring with someone who’s had 25 fights. No one would do that at this age. I just proved I can go ten rounds. I can hurt him. But I can stay on the inside and learn from my mistakes. I think it’s a win-win.”

After the fight, Ben Shalom, BOXXER CEO, and founder, remarked to Sky Sports: “Aram Fanyan, credit to him. He’s a serious operator. He’s better than the European level. No other fighter I know would be taking on tests like this early in their career. But it’s about who he’s going into it, who he will defend against. It’s the European title next, but a phenomenal performance on a massive stage.”

Azim is on the lookout now for new possibilities that will be much more difficult matches.
