Mexico hosts world’s largest boxing class

Zocalo Square, Mexico City registered its name in the annals of history for hosting the world’s biggest boxing class ever on 18th June 2022. The City Square saw a massive crowd of more than 14,299 people, surpassed the previous record of 3,000 people during Boxing Class, Mexico in 2017.

Head of Government for Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum posted a video and congratulated the boxers, trainers, and all those who made the event a grand success. The event and attendance were observed and certified by a Guinness World Record team on Saturday.

Thousands of Boxing enthusiasts gathered around the main square to witness the enormous class. The program was begun with a tai-chi warmup, followed by a review of basic boxing movements, and a session including multiple combinations of blows.

The biggest boxing class was led by the professional boxers Ana Maria “Guerrera” Torres, a two-time WBC super flyweight, and David Picasso, a two-time junior champion, Marian ‘’La Barby’’ Juarez, a three-time World Boxing Council champion bantamweight, flyweight, and super flyweight categories.

The gala event was organized by the Mexico City administration. They signed in world-renowned celebrities such as Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone who played many iconic roles including Rocky Balboa and Boxer Saul “Canelo” Alvarez to promote the event.

The participants wore white, red and green to represent the Mexican flag. The list of teachers who provided class include Andy Ruiz Jr, Oscar Valdez, Humberto “Chiquita” Gonzalez, Jose “Pipino” Cuevas, Alfonso Zamora, Alan David Picasso, Adrian “Confesor” Hernandez, Erik “El Terrible” Morales, Jackie Nava and others.

Post-event, people swarmed the arena for autographs from boxers and celebrities.

The turnout and boxing class impressed several visitors and attendants.

Araceli Salazar spoke to AFP, “I’m pleasantly surprised with the outstanding turnout and participation.”

Carmon Perez was thrilled to be part of the event, she said, “There is a beautiful vibe going on around the arena.”

Mexico City, the Capital and Largest City in Mexico hold several Guinness World Records. The records include the biggest serving of packaged tacos, the largest number of free Wi-Fi hotspots in an urban area, and the largest number of people playing foosball simultaneously.
