Mohammad Siraj : Aggression and Style
Over the past 18 months, Mohammad Siraj has emerged as one of India’s prominent test cricket player. The fast bowler made his international debut in Australia and went on to impress in India’s incredible series victory there. India’s historic victory at the Gabba in Brisbane was highlighted by the pacer’s five-wicket haul. In England, Siraj maintained his excellent Test performance. Siraj claimed four wickets in England’s opening innings in the fifth and final Test match between India and England at Edgbaston in Birmingham. His brother Ismail recently talked about Siraj’s assertiveness, which is one of his standout qualities.
Pace sensation of the Indian Cricket team, Mohammad Siraj is known for aggressive bowling but there is a lot to know about him off the field. According to Mohammad Ismail, brother of Siraj, he is spontaneous. He is very different off-field than we see him in action.
Ismail said, “Siraj starts automatically dancing whenever hears Arabi Marfa. It doesn’t matter who is getting married.”
Siraj can just switch himself on, enter batsman skin, outwit him, and celebrate with arms flying wide on the ground. His behaviour and nature are not secret to his teammates and that’s why skipper Virat Kohli is not surprised with his haul at Lord’s last year. His IPL teammates in the RCB dressing room and fellow cricketers of the Indian National Cricket Team know a thing or two about Mohammad Siraj.
Virat Kohli said about Siraj once, “He is that kind of bowler who is aggressive, in your face and looking to get guys out. He is brave and never backs out in tough situations.” His brother Ismail said, “Siraj always had that junoon…matlab pagalpan. But with time, he has matured a lot, and he has become a smarter player who plans to get opponents out with aggression as a tool.”
Like every true Indian boy, Siraj wants to make his father and country proud with his hundred per cent performance every time.
He showed his potential during India’s tour of England 2021 and Australia. These tournaments helped him to sneak into the A-listers of the Indian Cricket team. He was flanked by Mohammad Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah and is considered ahead of Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma now.
“The best thing about Siraj is his ‘never die’ attitude. He always remains ready for the war. He never hesitates to bowl in a tough time or before the best hitters of the ball. Siraj is a reliable bowler for all formats of cricket.”
Hesson said about Siraj, “We have seen Siraj breaking into dance whether he is on streets or cruise. He loves Arabi Marfa and the opposite of what we see on the field, an aggressive bowler, who wants wickets.”
Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, and Virat Kohli, three legendary cricketers, have all expressed their appreciation for Siraj’s contagious enthusiasm. When Siraj played a crucial part in India’s victory over England at Lord’s last year, then-Indian captain Virat Kohli had observed, “He is precisely this way. He will bowl in an aggressive, confrontational style, seeking to strike out opponents. He is not afraid, and he is not going to turn around.”
