Messi Certain Alex Ferguson will be left red-faced after Ronaldo’s Remark

Lionel Messi, one of the all-time great football players, transferred from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain. The step has not proved to be as planned by the superstar.

He managed to net only six-time out of 27 domestic matches in France. He was unable to prevent PSG’s Champions League Round of 16 exits against Real Madrid.

Messi and teammate Neymar even had to experience loud booing by PSG fans during a League 1 match.

Another great of the game, Cristiano Ronaldo also made the switch to Manchester United after twelve years. Though the campaign was disastrous for the team, Ronaldo scored 24 goals in 38 appearances.

In support of Messi, PSG Chief Al-Khelaifi said, “I am confident about Messi’s form, and his performance will be better next season. He is the man who won seven Ballon d’Or, and it was not his best season.”

This positive statement full of trust in Messi supremacy contradicts a former critique, Sir Alex Ferguson. Ferguson believed Ronaldo had the advantage over Lionel Messi for his adaptability in changing situations.

The celebrated ex-boss of Manchester United signed a prospect from Sporting Lisbon in 2003 and promoted Ronaldo into the leader of the game that he is today. Cristiano Ronaldo won the Champions League and three Premier Leagues during his spell with Manchester before he switched to Real Madrid in 2009.

Ferguson said back in 2015, “People believe Messi is the best player in the world. No one dispute that but Ronaldo can play for Queens Park Rangers, Millwall, and Doncaster Rovers… for anyone and anywhere. I am not sure whether Messi could play and easily adapt to different locales and teams.”

He further added, “Messi is a brave and Barcelona player. Ronaldo got two feet extra, agile on-field & air, and brave in all situations.”

Cristiano Ronaldo has won five Ballon d’Or, while Lionel Messi pulled clear of the Portuguese legend by securing the seventh Ballon d’Or in the Paris awards ceremony in November 2021. Messi won ten La Liga titles at Barcelona and four Champions Leagues. He was a crucial part of the Argentina team when they won Copa America, the first title in 28 years.

It is evident that two all-time soccer legends are equal in their awards and achievement on global footing after Cristiano Ronaldo led Portugal to the European Championships in 2016.
