AIFF Suspends Coaching Official after misconduct charges reported by India U-17 Women’s Football team
The governing body of Indian football took stern action and temporarily suspended an assistant coach of the U-17 women’s football team. This created huge unrest and controversy among officials and team members.
The Women’s U-17 team accused the person of misconduct. The Federation considered the complaint and provisionally suspended the person from further work with the team.
The coach is in hot water because of a complaint and investigation. The AIFF has strict norms for misconduct, indiscipline, and policies. The body asked the team coach to stop all communications from the team and return to India as soon as possible for a detailed investigation.
The spokesperson of AIFF said, “An incident of misconduct has been reported from U17 Women’s Team against the person. We are looking into the matter seriously, AIFF does not accept any kind of indiscipline and will take all the required measures for safe and transparent sports.”
We follow a zero-tolerance policy on misconduct and indiscipline. The U17 Women’s team is on an exposure tour in Europe.
The AIFF statement in the matter further added, “For the initial steps post complaint, we have suspended the individual until the investigation goes on. The person is barred from all types of communication with the team. The person has been summoned immediately back to India and to be physically present for investigation.”
About the U17 Women team: The team took part in the sixth edition of the Torneo Female Football Tournament in Italy from 22nd June to 26th June. They lost to the host country, Italy and Chile. It was a not so successful tour in Italy.
Italy defeated Indian U17 Women’s Team by 7-0. India also lost against Chile with the final tally being1-3.
Due to poor performance in Italy, U17 Women’s team has shifted their focus towards the Open Nordic Tournament WU16 to be held in Norway. As per the AIFF release, the India Women U16 team is participating for the first time.
The poor run of the U17 Women Football team is still going on. They lost to the Netherlands in their opener of the Nordic Tournament. Indian Women Team scored one goal against five of the Dutch team on 2nd July.
