Final Results of the 69th Senior National Kabaddi Championship 2022
The 69th Senior National Men’s Kabaddi Championship 2022 concluded on Sunday.
On Sunday, Indian Railways overcame Maharashtra to win the 69th Senior National Kabaddi Championship 2022 in Charkhi Dadri, Haryana. The title was won by the star-studded Indian Railways squad, 38-21. Pawan Kumar Sehrawat, a VIVO Pro Kabaddi player, topped the final score with 9 points as Indian Railways put up an electric show.
After a convincing effort, Indian Railways crushed Tamil Nadu 44-26 in the first quarterfinal of the day. Meanwhile, in a spirited game, Goa upset Uttar Pradesh 41-38 to go to the semifinals. Haryana defeated Services, who had been the finals in each of the previous five editions, by a score of 48-28 in the heavyweight encounter. In other news, Chandigarh’s incredible run came to an end as Maharashtra defeated them 39-21.
Haryana easily defeated Aslam Inamdar’s Maharashtra in the first semi-final owing to the raiding tandem of Meetu and Mohit Goyat. However, thanks to a swift recovery, Maharashtra headed into the interval with a 5-point advantage, with the score remaining 16-11 in their favour. Maharashtra maintained its lead with to Kiran Laxman’s High 5 and Akash Shinde’s Super 10, and the 65th edition winners finally overcame the host side by a score of 33-27.
Indian Railways took an early lead in the second semi-final, leading 36-13 at the interval. While Shrikant Jadhav led Goa in scoring with 7, the reigning champions were unable to stage a comeback as Pawan Sehrawat’s 14 points guaranteed that they retained their lead. The last match between Indian Railways and Maharashtra seemed well matched as they hoped to capture another title after winning 43-20.
This goal was realised when Indian Railways defeated Maharashtra 38-21 in the championship final. Pawan Sehrawat’s nine raid points ensured that the reigning champions had a firm grip on the game. They countered Maharashtra’s attack with a total of 13 tackle points, ensuring another victory to add to their already amazing trophy collection.
