Alyssa Healy becomes the first cricketer in history to get 100 wickets in T20Is

On Friday (July 29), star Australian wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy became the first stumper in T20I history to achieve 100 dismissals. The 32-year-old achieved the feat when she successfully caught Indian batter Smriti Mandhana. With 91 dismissals, former Indian captain MS Dhoni is ranked first in the men’s category. In addition, Healy holds the record for the most runs scored by a wicketkeeper in an innings in Women’s One-Day Internationals. Earlier this year, the 32-year-old hammered 170 against England in the ICC Women’s World Cup. She was also the tournament’s leading run scorer with 509 total runs. Alyssa reached this landmark record in her 124th match. So far in her career, she has completed 54 stumpings and 47 catches.

Alyssa Healy, Australia’s wicketkeeper and opener, was instrumental in removing two Indian batters in the Commonwealth Games on Friday. In the CWG T20I opener, the Indian women’s team faced off against archrivals Australia women in Edgbaston in Birmingham. Continuing their dominance over India, Australia overcame them by three wickets as they chased down 154 runs, which was incredibly difficult for them in the early stages. Healy also committed a costly error against Shafali during the Indian innings. She produced a comical stumping error against Verma, collecting the ball but breaking the stumps with her right hand while holding the ball with her left.

She is the first cricketer, men’s and women’s combined, to accomplish this record in the game’s shortest format. She achieved the milestone when she caught Indian opener Smriti Mandhana in the fourth over of the Indian innings, bowled by Darcie Brown.
