Defender Elise Stenevik has signed for Everton Women
The Norway youth international defender Elise Stenevik has joined Everton from Swedish club Eskilstuna United for an unknown fee, signing a two-year deal until the end of June 2024.
The 22-year-old is manager Brian Sorensen’s ninth addition of the summer, after Jess Park, Katja Snoeijs, Clare Wheeler, Emily Ramsey, Aggie Beever-Jones, Karen, Sara, and Katrine Holmgaard, and Katrine Veje. Stenevik said she could not pass up the opportunity to join the Blues since she is dynamic defensively and offensively savvy fullback and the right fit for Everton.
After her move to Everton, Stenevik stated: “We have a lot of Scandinavian girls at the Club and I’m looking forward to getting to know them as well as the other players we have.
“The style of play the manager is looking to play is very appealing: playing on the ground, high pressing, high intensity. There is also the mentality of developing and training hard – it all sounds really good. I want to help be part of that process, get to know my teammates both on and off the pitch so that we can get better as a team.”
“It’s amazing to join Everton,” she told reporters. “It’s a big step in my career and I’m really looking forward to getting started. The English league is the best in the world, which I think is really good for my development. I had other choices but the chance to join a club like Everton was too good to turn down. The quality of football, the players and staff at the Club, the level of the league – it all feels good,” she added.

The defender began her career with Arna-Bjrnar in her home Norway before joining Eskilstuna United for the last three Damallsvenskan seasons. Stenevik has represented Norway at different young levels up to the Under-23 level on the international scene. The defender has yet to make her senior debut for her nation.
Manager Sorensen disclosed that when assessing players in Sweden, the young defender stood out, and he anticipates Stenevik’s further growth on Merseyside.
“It’s great to welcome Elise to the Club,” Sorensen told Everton reporters. “For her age, she has experience in the Swedish league, which is important, and I feel she brings something different to our squad.
“She can come in and play both full-back positions as she’s two-footed. When we were scouting across Sweden, Elise stood out. Her statistics were really impressive so we had a look at her in some games and we liked what we saw. She’ll fit into our team well. She can move the ball fast, is good in one-on-one duels and is a really exciting addition to our squad. We have a really good balance of experienced players in our group, and the young players we have brought in like Elise can hopefully learn from them.”
