Dinesh Karthik: “I practise specific scenarios, consistently over a period of time.”
Dinesh Karthik has demonstrated his abilities numerous times, and this time he affirmed them by completing India’s run chase in T20i in just two balls. He explained the source of his constancy and readiness. “I’ve been practicing for a long time for this, and I’ve done it for RCB, and I’m delighted to do it here.”
It is a constant routine over time. “When I have free time, I do a lot of scenario practice.” Vikram Rathour and Rahul Dravid have both been accepting in terms of how and what shots I want to exercise. I’ve been very specific about it. I don’t practice much, but I try to be as specific as possible,” he stated to reporters.

On Friday night, he smashed a six and a four to win the match for India after nine runs were required off the final six balls. When asked about his method, the team’s designated finisher stated that creating circumstances in the nets helps him accomplish in the middle.
In the end, it was Rohit Sharma’s undefeated 20-ball 46 that helped India mow down the 91-run target in the 8-over-a-side contest against Australia in Nagpur on Friday. Karthik lauded his captain’s innings and added, “Rohit Sharma performed admirably. I only had two balls, so I did my best. It is difficult to play such shots against the new ball, especially against top-tier new ball bowlers. It demonstrates why Rohit is such a major player in world cricket, not just in Indian cricket. His ability to play against fast-bowling is unparalleled, and this is what truly distinguishes him.”
While Karthik’s success as a finisher has helped India address one of their batting’s most pressing issues, it has put Rishabh Pant’s place in the team under threat. Although the hard-hitting Pant has a natural advantage as a left-hander on a team where none of the other six batters are, his irregular form in the shortest format has cast doubt on his spot. With India playing an 8-over match, the team included both Pant and Karthik in the XI, despite the fact that the former did not bat.
Despite some reservations about Rishabh Pant, the coach gave him a chance. Karthik is also well-versed in Pant’s characteristics. “Everyone is aware of Rishabh Pant’s talent. Yes, he couldn’t bat, but we all know what he brings to the table. We only needed four bowlers today. Having five bowlers was a luxury in this game. I believe the Indian team made the correct decision in playing Rishabh. Axar Patel is a rare left-handed pitcher. Southpaws could bat higher up the order,” Dinesh stated unequivocally that this is their intention.
“The management believe there may be a couple of overs where Axar Patel can target the spinner and take them on. That was the logic at the time, and having a left-hander bowl against a leg-spinner is a good match-up. We try to use that option on occasion, depending on how the game is unfolding at the time,” he added.
