“I will have good days and bad days but the positivity comes from the hard work that I put in,” says Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya stated that having a good attitude in all aspects of life, as well as the support of his family members who “let him be” while he fought with reoccurring ailments, helped him come back to his best ahead of the T20 World Cup.

The Baroda-born player took a break after the T20 World Cup 2021 before making a strong comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season.

Due to recurring injury difficulties, Pandya has largely played as a hitter in recent years. His inability to bowl consistently cost him a spot in the Test squad, and he was later dropped from the team after the T20 World Cup 2021. The all-rounder returned as Gujarat Titans captain and guided the team to win in their inaugural season. Pandya hasn’t looked back since, solidifying his place as one of India’s most significant white-ball players.

Hardik might be the key element in India’s success in the T20 World Cup in Australia. On Sunday, India will begin their campaign against Pakistan. Before leaving for Australia, the 29-year-old spoke openly about the importance of his family. Pandya has spent a significant amount of time working on his fitness over the previous 18 months after reoccurring ailments prevented him from bowling. He is currently routinely bowling for India, providing much-needed balance to the team.

“It has to do a lot with helping myself to go back to the basics and approaching everything on a positive note. Because of that I have got peace in my life looking at the brighter side always.I know I will have good days and bad days but the positivity comes from the hard work that I put in, which then gives me the self-belief and confidence to give it everything. And with the support of my family to always have my back, I feel a sense of complete focus and positivity around me,” Hardik told reporters.

“The credit goes to Natasha, Agastya, Krunal – everyone kind of allowed me to maintain my routine and made sure to realize that you know what, Hardik right now should focus on himself and he should keep himself as a priority. And because of that, I was able to understand a lot of things which I had kind of forgotten over the years while playing because there are certain things you don’t write down, it just happens,” he added.

The allrounder stated that he has had enough of time to focus on himself and remember aspects of his journey that he had previously forgotten. While Pandya has always worked extra hard to improve his fitness, he credits his family, wife Natasa, son Agastya, and brother Krunal, for helping him to go one step further in the last year or so.
