Amey Ranawade to miss the remainder of ISL 2022-23

Due to an ongoing recovery from a knee injury, the Mumbai City FC defence player Amey Ranawade will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2022-23 Indian Super League season, according to a statement released by the club on Tuesday.

During the 2022 Durand Cup semi-final matchup with Mohammedan SC, the defender, who is 24 years old, suffered a knee injury. Since then, Ranawade has had a successful operation, and he is currently healing well. He will carry on with his recovery while working with the club.

The news comes as a blow to Des Buckingham and the rest of his squad, since Ranawade played a significant part in translating his manager’s strategies onto the playing field. After signing with the team at the start of the 2020-21 season, he helped them win both the ISL regular season and playoff titles under Sergio Lobera’s coaching.

Ranawade was a revelation with the Spaniard in charge, and since then, he has developed into an essential component of the Islanders’ ongoing efforts to accomplish even more.

Ranawade served his team in numerous capacities than only as a defender. The oppostion teams had no chance against him because to his quickness and athleticism. The right-back was frequently tasked with the job of advancing the ball and showed excellent overlapping running to contribute to the development of scoring opportunities for his team.

When it comes to defence, the full-back for Mumbai City FC is noted for being a no-nonsense defender who leaves very little room for his opponents to create problems for his club. During the current season, the Islanders have been playing Rahul Bheke at right back.

The four games that Mumbai City FC has played so far have resulted in two victories, two draws, and a third-place standing in the league table. On November 6, Mumbai City FC will play ATK Mohun Bagan at the Mumbai Football Arena.
