“This game is all about confidence and we can exploit that,” says David Miller about the match with Pakistan
South Africa’s David Miller said on Wednesday that they will aim to “exploit” Pakistan’s shaky confidence as they seek to secure a berth in the Twenty20 World Cup semi-finals and send their opponents home.
They headed the standings ahead of other Group 2 matchups later on Wednesday, with two victories from three matches, including a triumph over India. South Africa’s third game was called off due to rain.

Pakistan, on the other hand, is fifth and would be eliminated from the World Cup if South Africa defeats them on Thursday at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Pakistan’s much-touted opening duo of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have failed to impress in three World Cup matches and are under pressure to regain form quickly.

“I believe that is an area to exploit,” middle-order batsman Miller said.
“This game is all about confidence, and they haven’t perhaps done as well as they might.”
“But they’re world-class players, so we expect them to show up, bring their A-game, and be up for the task.”

Pakistan bowler Naseem Shah disputed that his team is still reeling from their humiliating opening loss against India.
Pakistan were defeated on the final ball by their archrivals, then suffered a stunning setback to Zimbabwe before thumping the Netherlands.
When reporters asked Naseem if Pakistan had failed to recuperate mentally after the India defeat, he answered, “No, I don’t think so because everyone is competent and everyone understands about oneself.”

“We lost against India, but I don’t think anyone is obsessing about the India game because as a professional, you can’t worry about the past, particularly when you lose.”
Miller struck an unbroken half-century in South Africa’s tense five-wicket triumph against India, highlighting the country’s title credentials — and perseverance.
“I think we’re coming up with a lot of methods to win,” he remarked.

“We’ve been doing it for a while now. We’ve definitely been through difficult situations in the last year and managed to get through them.
“I believe the squad’s continuity over time has allowed players to sort of establish their positions, and if one guy isn’t doing well, another guy picks up the load,” he continued.
