“The Indian cricket team depends on him,” says Saurav Ganguly on Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli has recovered his former form with the bat, putting up good statistics in limited-overs cricket since returning from a hiatus in the Asia Cup 2022, but he has yet to reach his peak in Test cricket.

The speedy right-hander struck hundreds in both ODIs and T20Is but was unable to translate his white-ball success to the longest format of the game, managing just 1, 19*, 24, and 1 in two Tests against Bangladesh, while averaging 26.5 in 11 innings in Test matches in 2022.
Former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly believes Virat Kohli must perform better in the forthcoming Test series against Australia, which begins on February 9 in Nagpur. The former Indian captain also anticipates a confrontation between India and Australia in the World Test Championship final at The Oval in June. He has endorsed the cricketer and expects him to perform well in the game’s longest format as well. The 50-year-old stated that the Indian cricket team relies on him in Test cricket and that he must come up and produce once again.

Sourav Ganguly told reporters: “Virat Kohli is doing good. He has done well against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. He has to do well in Test Cricket also because the Indian cricket team depends on him. The Australia series is coming soon and I hope it will be a very good one. I want India and Australia to play the World Test Championship Final.”
When questioned about India’s chances in the next ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, Ganguly expressed confidence.
He explained, “Indian side is very strong. India can’t be a bad team. In our country, there are lots of players who play cricket. Half of them don’t get a chance in the national team as the competition is very high.”

“Just they have to play the World Cup fearlessly, they have to keep calm. They are a good team. All the players are good. This team has Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja will also come back. And this is a very strong team,” he also added.
