Australia crush India by 10 wicket victory, level ODI series 1-1
In the second One-day International here on Sunday, Mitchell Starc led Australia to a 10-wicket victory against India to even the series at one game each. He finished with statistics of 5-53.
Left-arm fast Starc shook the Indian batting order with his speed and swing to bowl the opponents out for just 117 in just 26 overs. Virat Kohli made an effort to rally India with a score of 31, which featured four boundaries, but Nathan Ellis eventually caught him in front.

The loss of Ravindra Jadeja for 16 off the bowling of Ellis, the hero from Friday’s first game in Mumbai, increased to India’s troubles as the wickets continued to fall. After striking two sixes, Axar Patel, who replaced Shardul Thakur on the squad, remained undefeated at 29.
In response, Marsh smashed six sixes and six fours on route to scoring 66. Marsh delivered another explosive performance as the opener, blasting six fours and six sixes in his unbeaten 36-ball innings of 66, following a magnificent 81 in a lost cause during the first ODI.Travis Head was a helpful ally, scoring 51 off 30 balls. Australia used just 11 overs to achieve the winning target. As of Wednesday’s decisive encounter in Chennai, the three-match series was tied at one each. Starc earlier decimated the Indian batting order to claim his tenth five-wicket haul in ODI play.

When the World Cup kicks off in India in a little over six months, Australia will benefit the most from Starc’s flawless track record in the first overs of the innings because few bowlers worldwide are able to hit with such regularity.
Only three bowlers have taken more than 13 wickets in the Powerplay overs since the 2019 ODI World Cup in England (the first 10 of the innings).
Starc is in second place with 25 wickets, followed by Josh Hazlewood, another member of the Indian team, and Mohammed Siraj, who leads with 26.
“It was a great day for us,” man-of-the-match Starc told reporters. “I think the bowling unit was pretty spot on. I guess the conditions helped the ball swing a bit but I think we bowled really good areas. We were probably on the more aggressive side when we started to get a few wickets in the powerplay.”

Australian Captain Steven Smith stated: “It was a quick one. 37 overs for the game, you don’t see that too often. I thought our bowlers were outstanding. Mitchell Starc in particular with that new ball swinging it back down the line and putting them under early pressure and he complemented really well with the rest of our bowling group. I didn’t know how the wicket was going to play and how much it was going to swing. The way that Mitch and Heady went out and went after them was impressive. Putting them under pressure. When you’re chasing 118 you can break the back of it really quickly.”

Indian captain Rohit Sharma explained: “It is disappointing. No doubt about that. We didn’t play to our potential. We didn’t apply ourselves with the bat. We always knew that was not enough runs. It was not a 117 pitch at all. By no means. We just didn’t apply ourselves. [Starc] is a quality bowler. He’s been doing it for years for Australia with the new ball. He kept bowling to his strength and we kept falling to his strength. That’s something that we need to understand and play accordingly. All their bowlers bowled really well and put us under pressure.”

The last ODI of the series will take place on Wednesday in Chennai. Australia will undoubtedly believe they are favourites heading into the championship game after the manner they have troubled India’s hitters in these first two games.
