Match Preview: Everton FC Vs Brighton FC

Brighton & Hove Albion has been in excellent form, scoring 11 times in their last five fixtures. They are currently unbeaten in their last five home games and have scored in their last five as well. With 56% of their matches this season involving BTTS, it’s likely we will see them score against Everton. On the other hand, Everton has only picked up two points in their last five games and have failed to score in two out of their last five. With their poor away form, it’s going to be a tough game for them. With Brighton & Hove Albion’s current form at home, we predict a win for them with a possible scoreline of 2-1.

Sean Dyche believes Everton must “lock in all the positives” from their strong performance against Leicester City on Monday night, but he also believes it is critical to “go and deliver it again” for next week’s match against Brighton and the next three key Premier League matchups after that. Although the Blues were reduced to a 2-2 draw by the Foxes in their last match, they delivered one of their best attacking efforts of the season.

Everton produced 23 opportunities, with 18 of them coming inside the box. Since such statistics became available in the 2014/15 season, this is the Club’s second-highest amount of shots from within the penalty area. However, Dyche’s side will face another difficult road journey on Monday evening as they travel to the south coast to face a high-flying Brighton.

While the Everton boss acknowledges that his side didn’t get the win the Toffees’ showing warranted at the King Power Stadium, he believes the performance illustrates the team are on the right track.

“It was good to see some of the messages from myself and coaching staff being delivered by the players,” said Dyche during Thursday’s pre-match press conference at Finch Farm.

“It reaffirms to them that we are on the right track. I know we aren’t in the league table, but there was a lot of good in that performance. It showed a lot of the work we have been putting in. We didn’t get the full reward in terms of the three points, but we got the reward in terms of the feel-good factor from the performance. And rightfully so I thought. It’s not easy on the road or in the Premier League, full stop. But on the road, definitely not. Statistically we know it’s not. Yet, we gave a very thorough performance there. But it’s parked very quickly because it doesn’t guarantee the next one. We have to make sure we use it wisely, lock in all the positives but we have to go and deliver it again.  It can’t just be once every few games, there has to be consistency.“
