Virender Sehwag: “Rohit Sharma’s struggle with the bat is because of a mental block.”
Former India batter Virender Sehwag talked about Mumbai Indians (MI) chief Rohit Sharma’s rough patch in the current IPL 2023. Notably, the captain hasn’t scored much and has had two “no scores” in a row in the last two games.

Before the highly awaited match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Sehwag thought about Rohit’s bad season and said that his problems have been more mental than physical. So far, Rohit’s season has been a disappointment. He has only got 184 runs in ten games, which is a terrible average of 18.40. Rohit has been out of the game without scoring in the last two games, which is a worry for the team.
Tim David giving Rohit the perfect birthday gift. Astonishing hitting and what a spectacular run chase by the Mumbai Indians. Great to see so many last over finishes this season. #MIvsRR pic.twitter.com/wrc9iqj2YO

“Rohit Sharma is not battling with the bowlers but with himself. There is a mental block. There’s no problem with his batting technique. Some confusion is going on in his mind. But the day he gets going, we will make up for all the previous matches,” Sehwag told on a sports channel.

Earlier, Gavaskar said that Rohit should pay more attention to the WTC final, which is coming up soon. Gavaskar said that the Mumbai captain seems busier than he did before. Gavaskar explained: “I would like to see some changes in the batting order of Mumbai Indians. To be honest, I would also say that Rohit should also take a break for some time and keep himself fit for the World Test Championship final. He might come back again for the last few matches of Mumbai but for now he should give himself some rest.”
In the same part, former South African cricketer Imran Tahir gave RCB batter Virat Kohli a lot of credit for how hard he works and how dedicated he is. Tahir said that the flashy batter’s constant desire to score runs over the last 15 years was something to be admired.
Trustworthy Twosome 🤜🤛
Virat & AB – 5 (2016)
Faf & Maxwell – 4 (2023)*Our Power Pair is one away from joint most 💯 partnerships ever in an IPL season! 👊
A record we don’t mind them breaking! 🙌🫡#PlayBold #ನಮ್ಮRCB #IPL2023 pic.twitter.com/5YUdYNkaJT

“Virat Kohli has always had the urge to score runs. You can score maximum runs in one season, two or three seasons, but if you are successful in doing this for 15 consecutive seasons, then it can be attributed to the result of your hard work and dedication. What Virat has done in the last 15 years is really commendable,” Tahir explained on the Star Sports channel.
Our boys step on to the field hoping to give their 100% every single time. But it’s sport, and we win some, we lose some. It surely hurts when we lose.
The next 3 games will be a test of character, and we’re ready for the challenge. 💪#PlayBold #ನಮ್ಮRCB #IPL2023 pic.twitter.com/yOkyOK90dn

Aaron Finch, a former Australian cricketer, said that the first two bowlers for Mumbai Indians look lost and that they need to look at how CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad does things. “MI’s opening combination looks confused they are taking a lot of risk. They were looking to hit all the balls. They should learn from Ruturaj Gaikwad, he remains so calm in the middle and hits the loose balls,” Finch stated. “RCB still has many matches. This team will definitely win. You look at Delhi itself. After losing six matches, this team is now winning. RCB is already winning. I think RCB will regain its rhythm,” he concluded.
At the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday night, Rohit’s Mumbai Indians team will play the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
