Esports at Commonwealth Games: Indian DOTA 2 squad will compete for bronze
The Commonwealth Esports Championships and Commonwealth Esports Forum are being held in Birmingham, England. The Championships are a practical product of the Global Esports Federation and Commonwealth Games Federation’s Strategic Partnership, which was announced in May 2020. The British Esports Association, a non-profit national organisation founded in 2016 to promote esports in the UK, raise awareness, enhance standards, and inspire future talent, will sponsor the new competition in Birmingham.

The India DOTA 2 team will compete for the bronze medal, however the Rocket League team was unable to proceed past their group round matches. Despite the fact that these medals will not be added to the country’s medal total, earning one during the CWG’s debut esports event would be a tremendous accomplishment. In their first group round encounter, the Rocket League were beaten 3-0 by Canada in a Best of Five series. The Indians suffered comparable setbacks against Wales and England, forcing them to exit from the Commonwealth Esports Championship early in the group round.
Day 3 – Update !
Team India (DOTA) will play the Bronze Medal match against New Zealand tomorrow (7th Aug).Wishing the team very best, lets get it boyz! @narendramodi @AmitShah @ianuragthakur @Rajeev_GoI @NisithPramanik @WeAreTeamIndia @IndiaSports @INOXMovies#indianesports pic.twitter.com/xNPA0NWPI0
