Commonwealth Esports Championship 2022: India wins Bronze in Dota 2

At the Commonwealth Esports Championship 2022, India prevailed over New Zealand and took home the bronze medal. Team Dota 2 comprises of captain Moin Ejaz, Ketan Goyal, Abhishek Yadav, Shubham Goli and Vishal Vernekar. India triumphed in the series with a score of 2-0, claiming success with ease in the first match and earning it after a hard-fought victory in the second match.

India dominated the opening game, resulting in an easy victory for the squad. The second game began with New Zealand holding a modest advantage in terms of kills and economy, but a balanced condition was established by the midgame. Team India eventually turned the odds in their favour and won the second game, as well as the bronze medal.

Moin Ejaz, the skipper of DOTA 2 team, before the CWG begun, had said: “The entire team is looking forward to playing against the best teams in the world and proves our mettle. We have been paying a lot of attention to our strategies and practicing a lot in the hopes of a podium finish. Getting the chance to represent the nation in the very first Commonwealth Esports Championship is a very sweet reward to show for all of the efforts we have taken in playing this game at the highest level. A big thank you to ESFI for today’s send-off ceremony and especially for the sports psychology session that taught us a lot of valuable things,”

Earlier, in the semifinals, the Indian team was defeated by the Malaysian team. At the 2022 Commonwealth Games, esports will be featured as a demonstration event; as a result, any medals won in this competition will not be factored into the final total.
