Overwatch 2 going offline as Blizzard applies patches after DDOS aftermath

The team-based action game Overwatch 2 is free to play and is set in the hopeful future. Each match is the ultimate 5v5 battlefield combat. As you engage in combat all around the world, you can play as a time-jumping freedom warrior, a beat-dropping battlefield DJ, or one of more than 30 other distinctive characters.

Overwatch 1’s servers were shut down on October 3, and the game’s updated version was published globally barely 24 hours later. The creators intended to make adjustments to the game to keep it relevant and add components to make it upgradable after a mainly successful six-year trip. As a result, the team size was lowered from six to five in Overwatch 2, as well as the addition of a battle pass, passive roles, and hero revamps. And, only two days into the Overwatch 2 era, numerous publications have revealed the game’s schedule for the rest of 2022 and beyond. New heroes, maps, skins, and other features are likely to be added to the game sooner than planned.

If you want to modify your clothing and weaponry, or play as Kiriko, one of the three new characters, you’ll need to either play a lot of the game, accomplishing daily tasks and progressing through the levels before the season finishes… or simply purchase the Battle Pass. Some aesthetic goods will only be available if you subscribe to them or purchase them straight from the shop.

Overwatch 2 was released on Tuesday as a big upgrade to the original game, but players experienced lengthy waits to enter games, numerous disconnects, and progress not rolling over on day one. Aside from massive server disconnects and player database troubles, Blizzard stated that a DDoS assault on its servers caused connectivity issues and booted players from games.

Overwatch 2 servers will be down for two hours on Thursday as bug patches and database updates are implemented. Everyone who checks in during Season One, whether new or returning, will immediately acquire the heroes Junker Queen and Sojourn. Overwatch owners will also receive Kiriko as part of their Founder’s Pack, which can be obtained by signing in at any time until the end of Season Two. You’ve already acquired your Founder’s Pack if you have the “Founders” picture in-game.

With new characters arriving on a regular basis, it’ll be difficult for casual gamers to maintain levelling up without eventually paying up. Blizzard has also stated that it intends to adjust the game every season in order to keep it feeling fresh.
