Dubai Esports Festival (DEF) 2022 to start on 9 November 2022

The debut Dubai Esports Festival (DEF) 2022, which will take place from 9 to 20 November 2022 under the patronage of Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, will highlight a thrilling set of live events and activities that will bring together leading players and E-sports thought representatives from around the world.

The Dubai Esports Festival (DEF) 2022, organised by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) in collaboration with VSPN – a global leader in E-sports activities and solutions – will be the first international recreational event to be held at the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC), Expo City Dubai following the extremely successful Expo 2020.

“The event will include the highly anticipated PUBG Global Championship 2022, GameExpo, PopconME, Initiate Summit, a live performance, regional tournaments, a school tournament, as well as retail campaigns taking place around the city displaying the newest games and merchandise,” according to the announcement.

“We very much look forward to a lively and engaging event that will strengthen the booming gaming and E-sports culture in Dubai,” said Muna Al Falasi, Director, Festival Strategy & Planning, DFRE. The event will bring together skilled and enthusiastic gamers from all over the world, allowing gaming communities to meet and interact with top-tier E-sports pros while also creating a place for the industry to grow and develop. Throughout the Festival, a variety of interesting events will establish places and platforms for important thought leaders to give industry updates and motivate all attendees to participate with this vibrant sector.”

The PUBG Global Championship (PGC), which runs from November 1 to 20, will match 32 teams from four regions against each other for a piece of more than $2 million and the prestigious PGC Champions title. The Grand Finals stage in DEC’s North Hall will be available to the public from the 17th to the 20th of November, and the whole rousing event will be livestreamed for fans all over the world on twitch.

The GameExpo will be held from November 10 to November 13. There will be lots of activities for esports fans, such as viewing live competitions, meeting esports personalities, and experiencing unique vintage gaming experiences at the Retro Games Zone.

A yet-to-be-announced on-stage performance will take place on November 19, just before the festival’s final day. More information will be released closer to the event, and guests may remain up to current by following DEF on social media.

As part of its debut edition, DEF 2022 caters to gamers, families, friends, art & music enthusiasts, industry professionals, and esports specialists, with the goal of connecting and expanding the gaming and esports communities in Dubai and the region.
