Jos Buttler replaces Eoin Morgan as England’s White Ball Captain

Jos Buttler, able deputy of Eoin Morgan has been appointed as the new captain in the limited-overs matches for the England cricket team. England Cricket Board (ECB) made the announcement, that Jos Butler will take over the reins of the team post-retirement of Eoin Morgan.

Eoin Morgan announced retirement after fitness and batting form issues in recent months. The newly appointed captain of the England cricket team Jos Buttler has played more than 151 one-day internationals, 88 Twenty20s, and over 57 test matches. He has been an active player in IPL seasons.

The 31 years old Jos buttler made his international debut in 2011.

Managing Director of England Men’s Team Rob Key said, “Jos has been a crucial part of our white-ball cricket since his debut. He has played a key role in developing and transformational attacking form of cricket.”

“Captaincy will take his cricket to a newer level and encourage players around him.” Rob Key said.

Jos Butler is currently in his best form. He scored fantastic 248 runs during two innings in the recently concluded 3-0 ODI series against the Netherlands. He has devastated top-class bowlers and oppositions in his career. In IPL, he has played with a 149.71 strike rate in more than 82 matches.

Beyond his character, Buttler has an unmatched white-ball resume; only Morgan has scored more runs for England in T20s than his 2,140, and Joe Root is the only current England player to have scored more ODI runs than his 4,120. He has averaged 88.3 runs per game in ODIs and 65.4 runs per game in T20s since the beginning of 2021, and he just had a successful Indian Premier League season in which he was awarded the orange cap as the league’s top run scorer and named most valuable player.

Jos Butler scored the highest 863 runs in IPL 2022. He won the orange cap award. During IPL 2022, the English player won a total of thirty-seven awards. He played for the Rajasthan Royals franchise.

Eoin Morgan has left big shoes to fill and it will be interesting to watch how the wicketkeeper-batsman performs as the captain of the England Cricket Team.

Eoin Morgan is one of the best captains England has experienced. He has led England to a 50-over World Cup victory in 2019 and transformed into a powerhouse for the the white ball.

Jos Buttler is working as the skipper during the on-going T20 series against India, which started on 7th July. The big test of his skills will come in the form of the Twenty20 World Cup to be held in Australia, later in the year 2022.
