Coach Rahul Dravid lauds the Young Indian Team’s Impressive Performance Against the West Indies
Shikhar Dhawan became the first-ever captain of an Indian team that swept West Indies on their own turf on Wednesday, when the visitors hammered the hosts by 119 runs in the third and final One-Day International (ODI).
“We arrived with a very youthful team. Many of the players that participated in the England series did not play here, and the way you guys responded, the way you guys performed in three games, and the level of professionalism you displayed, “Dravid stated this in his post-final ODI dressing room address. “A couple of tight games, and to come out on the right side of those high-pressure games with some amazing performances under pressure was a really good sign for a very young team.”
Dravid also lauded Dhawan’s capable leadership. “Excellent work by Shikhar. I believe he led admirably. Congratulations to everyone for a fantastic performance.”
Dhawan believes that this young Indian squad has the ability to accomplish many more victories in the future.
“As a team, we would like to thank the support staff and all the team members who have helped us. Really appreciate your support. And well done boys, both batting and bowling unit,” said Dhawan.
“You guys did amazing. You guys are young and have a vision to become much more than what you are today. You guys have already started taking those steps and you guys will go a long way,” Dhawan stated.
The skipper ended his speech with a triumphant shout: ““Who are we? Champions.”
The five-match T20 series against the West Indies, which starts on Friday in Tarouba, will now take centre stage.

Following this humiliating setback in the three-match ODI series against India, West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran stated that while the 0-3 scoreline is “difficult” on the squad, the hosts are looking forward to the next T20I series.
“It was a difficult one for us. We accomplished a lot of things correctly in the first two games. I believe we gave it our all, and the lads did well. However, there were a lot of games in a short period of time “Pooran stated during the post-match presentation.
The five T20I series games are slated on July 29, August 1, August 2, August 6, and August 7.
