Babar Azam becomes the only cricketer in top 3 across formats
Babar Azam, Pakistan’s captain, is on his way to become the game’s top hitter in all forms. Babar was rewarded for his superb performance in the first Test against Sri Lanka by moving up to third place in the latest ICC Test Batting Rankings.
Over the years, numerous batting legends have emerged in the game of cricket. Babar Azam, on the other hand, is a once-in-a-generation talent. Every time he comes onto the field to bat, Pakistan’s captain breaks and sets new records. And it is not an exaggeration to claim that he is now the finest batsman in the world across all three forms. And this isn’t just a statement; the most recent ICC batsmen’s ranking proves it.

Babar, who aspired to be the top-ranked player in all three formats, went one step closer to his goal by claiming third place in the Test batting rankings. The right-handed hitter is already the best in both ODIs and T20Is.
While Babar wants to top the rankings in the ultimate format of the game, he is still 49 points behind England’s Joe Root, who now holds the top place with 923 rating points.
The Pakistan skipper, who hit 119 runs in the first inning of the first Test against Sri Lanka, went ahead of experienced Australian batsman Steve Smith by 26 points. Babar is positioned 11 points behind Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne, who is ranked second. He is also the only hitter who has finished in the top three in all forms.
