Preparatory camp in Perth will help Indian Team before T20 World Cup
Soham Desai, India’s strength and conditioning coach, said the squad is frequently “rushed” into large events, and the present preparation camp for the T20 World Cup would provide the players much needed time to decompress as well as work on their specialised talents to deal with Australian conditions.
India held their first training session on Friday and will play two warm-up matches on October 10 and 13 before travelling to Brisbane for the ICC-organized practise matches before of their World Cup opener versus Pakistan on October 23 in Melbourne.
Desai explained that the decision to hold the camp in Perth was made because the team management wanted the players to get acquainted to the surfaces after playing a few matches in home conditions. Because speed and bounce are prominent on Australian wickets, it will be beneficial to Indian hitters.

“The upcoming 8-10 days are going to be very crucial for us, leading into the World Cup. We can’t thank the team management and the BCCI enough for getting us these 8 days because, we always feel we are thrust into the big tournaments, playing so much cricket as the Indian team. But these 8 days, we are going to gradually build ourselves both physically and on the skills front, to lead us nicely into the first game in the World Cup,” Desai told reporters.

“The goal in Perth specifically is to get some time on these pitches as well as to break the monotony of playing the bilateral series, back to back in India,” he added.
India will play two warm-up fixtures before the start of their T20 World Cup tournament in 2022. They will play hosts Australia in their first warm-up match on October 17 in Brisbane before facing New Zealand in their second warm-up match on October 19 at the same stadium.
