Shane Watson predicts that India and Pakistan might clash in the T20 World Cup finals

Shane Watson believes that die-hard cricket fans will get another chance to see a thrilling match between fierce rivals India and Pakistan, this time in the finale of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 at the MCG on November 13.

The Asian rivals have already met already in the current tournament’s much-anticipated Group stage encounter at the legendary Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), when Virat Kohli produced one of the best T20 innings.

The Men in Blue won the Super 12 match between these two sides a few weeks ago by four wickets, with Ravichandran Ashwin striking the winning runs and Virat Kohli remaining unbroken till the finish, scoring 82 runs off just 53 deliveries.

India will play England in Adelaide on Thursday, a day after New Zealand plays Pakistan in Sydney. “Everyone would want to see Pakistan and India in the final,” an ecstatic Watson was reported as saying on the event’s official website.

“I was unable to attend the first game at the MCG because I was commentating the prior game between Australia and New Zealand.” Watson stated that he understands what he missed and would like to watch a rematch.

“However, according to all reports, everyone who attended the game claimed it was something extremely exceptional, and the game was certainly a great game to watch on TV as well. They played in the 2007 T20 World Cup final, which everyone would like to see again “Added the former Australian all-rounder.

However, in order for that dream match to take place, both sides must first win their semifinal matches against New Zealand and England on November 9 and 10.

New Zealand appear to be a stable team with a seamless run, whilst Pakistan have pushed and puffed their way to the semifinals. However, Watson believes Pakistan will pose a threat in the semifinals.

Pakistan would be brimming with confidence, given their ICC knockout record versus New Zealand. Their match is set to take place at the SCG.

India and England, on the other side, would play in a World Cup quarterfinal match for the first time in 35 years. In their previous ICC knockouts game, the Men in Blue defeated England in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013. The Adelaide Oval will host the second semifinal.

“The freedom they are going to have after not expecting much in the middle of the tournament, so the freedom they are going to have is going to be very dangerous for the Kiwis,” he concluded.
