World’s finest to fight for $15 million at Saudi Arabia’s Gamers8
Gamers8, the world’s largest esports and gaming tournament, has announced that six teams will play in five titles over the course of six weeks this summer in Riyadh.
The worldwide esports and gaming event will begin on July 14 in a purpose-built facility on Boulevard Riyadh City, with some of the world’s top gamers competing for a piece of the $15 million prize pool.
Gamers8, which concludes on September 8, comprises an international mix of invited teams as well as qualifiers from the Saudi-based Gamers Without Borders event.
“This summer’s showcase is going to be a spectacular occasion, and we are happy to welcome the elite to Gamers8,” said Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan, chairman of the Saudi Esports Federation.
“Gamers8’s mission is to bring the virtual world of esports and gaming into the actual environment of Riyadh.” With that in mind, our country’s capital, recognised for its love and zeal for gaming, is the appropriate location for Gamers8. Esports enthusiasts will recognise the best talents on exhibit and excitedly await seeing them in action,” he continued, while we hope newcomers to the gaming industry in Saudi Arabia and abroad will become as enthusiastic and devoted as we are.” Let the battle begin, he added.
Gamers8 will be organised by the Saudi Esports Federation and will include four key pillars: professional esports, festivals, music, and “the Next World Summit.”
Eight worldwide music performers will also perform over the event’s eight weeks, along with a slew of other local and regional musicians. More than 1,000 activities and attractions, including comedy, magic acts, and much more, will be available at Gamers8.
The teams will compete across the following titles:
- Rocket League
- Dota 2
- Fortnite
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
- PUBG MOBILE
Gamers8 is powering the Middle East’s Esports craze. The Saudi Esports Federation is behind the current increase in Esports competitions in the Middle East area. Their goal is to support professional gamers and grow the gaming scene in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, they are spending millions to stage these events, a luxury the Esports community in many other areas did not have. Other Esports games are also included at The Gamers8 Riyadh, most notably Rocket League, which has Middle East and North Africa (MENA) as a regional representation for a long time.
If Saudi Arabia’s ambition is to position the area as an Esports hotspot, the Gamers8 is a step in the right way.
