England Names 14-Man Squad For Test Series Against South Africa
The England men’s cricket selection panel confirmed a 14-man team for the opening two Test matches against South Africa on Tuesday.
Sussex seamer Ollie Robinson returns to the team for the first time since the Caribbean trip in March. Robinson rejoined the squad for the first time since the West Indies tour in March. The pacer had been sidelined due to a back issue, but he recently appeared for Sussex in the County Championship. The 28-year-old replaces Jamie Overton in the 14-man group that faced India in the postponed fifth Test match last month.
CB Men’s Performance Director, Mo Bobat, said: “After an excellent start to the summer under Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes, we are looking forward to an exciting Test series against a strong South Africa side.”
“It’s good to get Ollie Robinson back in the mix after his recent injury. He will continue his progress by playing for the Lions against South Africa in a four-day match at Canterbury next week,” he added.
England has been in fantastic form this summer, winning all four Tests. They hunted three 250-plus targets and one 350-plus target.
The following dates are scheduled for the test series:
- August 17-21 (Lord’s)
- August 25-29 (Old Trafford)
- September 8-12 (Old Trafford) (The Oval)
