Mohammed Shami replaced by young pacer Umran Malik after facing injury
On the day of the first ODI against Bangladesh, India were given a big setback as top bowler Mohammed Shami was forced to withdraw due to a hand injury. Umran Malik, a promising pacer, has taken Shami’s position in the squad.
Injury, in general, teaches you to appreciate every moment. I’ve had my share of injuries throughout my career. It’s humbling. It gives you perspective. No matter how many times I’ve been hurt, I’ve learned from that injury and come back even more stronger 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 pic.twitter.com/EsDLZd30Y7

Shami is now being monitored by the BCCI Medical Team at the NCA, and his prospects of playing in the two-match Test series against the Bengal Tigers are in jeopardy.
Following the BCCI’s confirmation, Shami moved to social media and posted a wonderful piece in which he highlighted that despite injury setbacks, he has always come back stronger. The seasoned pacer described it as a humbling experience that taught him to cherish every minute.
“Injury, in general, teaches you to appreciate every moment. I’ve had my share of injuries throughout my career. It’s humbling. It gives you perspective. No matter how many times I’ve been hurt, I’ve learned from that injury and come back even more stronger,” Shami Tweeted on November 3.

Umran made his One-Day International (ODI) debut in the just finished ODI series against New Zealand, which India lost 1-0.
Umran got three wickets in two matches, including one rain-affected game, with an average of 32.33 and an economy of 6.46. On his ODI debut, he took 2/66.
Former cricketers such as Brett Lee and Bharat Arun, among others, were outraged by Umran’s removal from the T20 World Cup. In Australia, where dashing fast bowlers made a huge influence on the event, the Men in Blue obviously missed him. Mark Wood (9 wickets in four matches) and Anrich Nortje (11 wickets in five matches) wreaked havoc on Australia’s pace-friendly surfaces, where India’s fast bowling line-up appeared rather weak.
