24-year-old Gurmeet Singh makes a Record ten saves in first game as Captain

The young Hyderabad FC side put in another heartful performance against Mohun Bagan at the Salt Lake Stadium on Saturday.

Even with plenty of youngsters standing up on the night, it was the shot-stopper Gurmeet Singh, who put in a world-class performance on goal.

fcThe 24-year-old sported the armband for the first time in his stint with the Nawabs in an ISL game on the night. He was under the gun for most of the game but came out on top.

But the Hyderabad goalkeeper stood tall. He made record-equalling ten superb saves, to keep the score down to 2-0 against the Mariners.

fcJason Cummings, Dimitri Petratos, Sahal Abdul Samad and Manvir Singh were all denied goal-scoring opportunities in front of a 30,000 crowd at the Salt Lake Stadium.

This effort from Gurmeet equals the ISL record, for Hyderabad, for the most saves in a single game. It is a feat previously achieved by Mirshad Michu (vs MCFC, 25/11/2022)

fcGurmeet Singh has now made 36 saves in 12 games for Hyderabad. He is only second to Gurpreet Singh Sandhu from BFC for saves per 90 in the league this season.

He is a senior figure in the dressing room and at the back. Gurmeet will look to continue his good form and push for a place in the National Team come the end of the season.
