South Africa defeats England by 90 runs to win third men’s T20 and the series
Reeza Hendricks scored his third consecutive half-century as South Africa defeated England at The Rose Bowl by an astounding 90 runs to win the three-match T20 International series 2-1.
Both Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram contributed to the Proteas’ 191-5 total with scores of 70 off 50 and 51 not out off 36. David Miller scored an undefeated 22 off nine balls as captain. Then, Tabraiz Shamsi took five wickets (five for twenty-four) to demolish England’s innings. Jonny Bairstow led the way with 27 off 30 as England were bowled for 101 in 16.4 overs. The two sides will now face off in a three-match Test series, beginning on August 17 at Lord’s in London.

The absence of captain Bavuma for the duration of the white-ball series did not hinder South Africa’s performance. Even without Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen, who were rested for the T20I series, the batting looks strong. Their bowling depth is also pretty terrifying, and they appear to be primed for a huge shot at the World Cup.
Winning South African captain David Miller remarked: “It is a privilege to play 100 caps for your country and to top it off with a performance like today from the boys was just phenomenal. We have come on leaps and bounds in the last 18 months and we’ve learned a lot. The character the guys are showing and the way they are putting their hands up in key moments is what we want.”
In pursuit of 192 to win at the Ageas Bowl, England batted ineptly, going 55 balls without a boundary before being bowled for 101 in 16.4 overs.
England was bowled out for the fourth time in six T20s this summer, and Jason Roy, who struck 17 from 18 balls, failed once again. England has now lost a third consecutive T20 series, following defeats by the West Indies and India earlier this year. Since 2013, this is the first home summer in which they didn’t win a white-ball series.
Have South Africa put their name forward in the #T20WorldCup conversation?

In late September, they will play seven T20 games in Pakistan, followed by three T20 games against Australia before the T20 World Cup in October and November. South Africa, on the other hand, will continue their white-ball trip with a couple of Twenty20 Internationals against Ireland in Bristol before beginning preparations for the Test series.
“It was a really good score on the board but I still had confidence in the group. We like to try and challenge ourselves with the bat but the way we played, the way we went down, is the most disappointing thing.” said Jos Buttler.
He added, “We lacked intent and confidence and didn’t manage to put the opposition under pressure. We never able to wrestle the initiative.”
Reeza Hendricks crowned Player of the Series said, “Very happy with my performance. Was well supported by Aiden (Markram) today. In the last game by Rilee (Rossouw). I try go out and score runs. I have a job to score and do well. Whenever you step on to the field, you want to do well. I definitely thought it was a competitive score. It was a tricky wicket. We definitely improved after Bristol.”
