Team Falcons defeats Team Liquid 3-0 to win the BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 championship
The BetBoom Dacha for Dota 2 esports has completed, with Team Falcons being proclaimed 2024 winners. In a best-of-five grand final, the Falcons overcame Team Liquid with three consecutive wins.
Aside from the championship trophy, the team received $400,000 out of the $1 million prize fund. Team Liquid, which had previously defeated BetBoom Team in the lower bracket final, finished second and brought home $200,000.
After losing to Team Falcons, BetBoom Team, who was demoted to the lower bracket final, also fell against Team Liquid. They finish third, earning $100,000.
Despite being fresh to the professional scene, Team Falcons, with a team full of experienced players, performed admirably throughout the event. Their path to the top, however, was not without obstacles.
The team’s performance in the early stages was just enough to get them into the playoffs, but it was here that their full potential emerged. Faced with powerful Chinese teams, Team Falcons demonstrated their supremacy by sweeping Xtreme Gaming 2-0 and edging Azure Ray 2-1.
Falcons and Liquid squared off once in the BBD group stage, with Team Liquid winning handily 2-0. But following that series, the Falcons seemed unbeatable, qualifying for the championship with a perfect run through the upper bracket. Team Liquid dropped their first playoff series before going on an incredible run in the lower bracket to reach the grand final.
The championship finals were a best-of-five series, with Team Falcons winning the first map after some back-and-forth fighting to take a 1-0 lead. The second map was a different tale; Team Liquid was favoured until the end of the map and was on the edge of victory, but Team Falcons’ carry, Skiter, purchased Rapier after a clutch buyback and sealed the game by sprinting down the mid lane. Team Falcons gained a 2-0 series lead, while Team Liquid suffered a dismal loss in game two.
Team Liquid defeated on the series’ third map; it appeared that Liquid had lost confidence after losing in game two. Team Falcons dominated Game 3 to sweep the Grand Finals 3-0.
Aside from the 3-0 victory in the grand finals, Team Falcons won the tournament without losing to any opponents. There were certainly occasions when they felt pressured, but the squad managed to stay on top.
The final match against Team Liquid also faced some difficulties, but their brave move paid off. After their first triumph, it appeared like Team Falcons were willing to take risks since they knew they had a win. The second match, albeit tough, went in their advantage, resulting in an early victory in the third round.
