Dota 2 Riyadh Masters 2024 Finals: Gaimin Gladiators emerge victorious over Team Liquid
The end of Riyadh Masters 2024 makes sense now. Gaimin Gladiators and Team Liquid squared battle in the championship final. The unchallenged Riyadh Masters 2024 champions, Gaimin Gladiators, defeated Team Liquid 3-0 in the best-of-five encounter.
The Gaimin Gladiators have returned to the top of the Dota 2 league. After defeating Team Liquid in the grand finals, the team that finished fourth in the Riyadh Masters 2023 competition is the one that finished runner-up at The International 2023 last year. The Gladiators will return home with $1.5 million in cash and a wealth of Club Points as a consequence of their victory, which has propelled the team to the fourth spot in the current Club Championship rankings.
For the important Dota 2 championship in the UAE, twenty formidable teams showed up. The teams battled for an amazing $5,000,000 USD prize pool in Riyadh, with $1,500,000 USD going to the winning team. Apart from the cash prize, the teams were also awarded Club Points. July 4 was the start of the competition, and it ended on July 21. The Saudi Esports Federation and ESL Gaming are organising the Riyadh Masters 2024 competition, which is scheduled to take place in Riyadh, the Saudi capital, as part of the Esports World Cup. There were 20 teams in the main event. Since they led the EPT rating, eight of them were invited to the competition. Through regional qualifications, the remaining 12 teams were able to enter the competition.
In the opening match, GG’s aggressive, pushing-focused composition triumphed over Liquid’s inferior draft, sealing the match in just twenty-four minutes. The movement of Beastmaster and the lane pressure exerted by Broodmother were crucial in impeding Liquid’s heroes. The second Riyadh Masters 2024 match proved to be quite different since both teams selected heroes that could battle or form a stable squad.
In the second game, GG chose up Broodmother, Chen, and Invoker. After several teamfights, Gaimin Gladiators defeated Liquid with the help of an oversized Alchemist and an aggressive mid SF. Similar to the previous round, GG fielded an aggressive squad in the last encounter, dominating Liquid right away. The crucial roles performed by Chaos Knight, Dark Seer, and Enigma enabled GG to submerge tier 3 towers before the eighteen-minute mark.
Liquid was forced to play defensively because they had limited freedom to manoeuvre, which eventually resulted in their defeat. Micke’s SF being trapped in a blackhole with his BKB popping was the last straw for Liquid’s hopes of winning the Riyadh Masters in 2024.
The tournament was won by the Gaimin Gladiators squad, who defeated squad Liquid in the grand final with a score of 3-0. The tournament had an amazing $5,000,000 USD prize fund. Regarding the future of the Gaimin Gladiators, they will be competing in The International 2024 in September, hoping to surpass their runner-up finish from the previous year.
The Gaimin Gladiators’ lineup consists of: Coach Cy (Aske Larsen, Denmark), dyrachyo (Anton Shkredov, Russia), Quinn (Quinn Callahan, US), Ace (Marcus Hoelgaard, Denmark), tOfu (Erik Engel, Germany), and Seleri (Melchior Hillenkamp, Netherlands).
