Esports World Cup grand finals of “Fortnite,” “Street Fighter 6,” and “Teamfight Tactics” primed for sunday
On Friday, many teams from the Esports World Cup celebrated reaching the final stages of Fortnite, Street Fighter 6, and Teamfight Tactics. Fortnite, hosted in the Amazon Arena within the SEF Arena on Boulevard Riyadh City, saw XSET, Heroic, Exceed, and Karmine Corp. advance to the quarter-finals after topping their respective groups.
Nine of the final 16 fighters in Street Fighter 6, which takes place at the Qiddiyah Arena within the SEF Arena, are from Japan, including Gachikun, Hikaru, and Tachikawa. Wolves Esports, Team Vitality, Toronto Ultra, and T1 all won their groups in Teamfight Tactics at the stc Arena, securing quarterfinal berths.
The team prize fund for all three contests is $2.5 million, including $1 million each for Fortnite and Street Fighter 6, and $500,000 for Teamfight Tactics. In addition, each tournament’s MVP receives $50,000.
Each of these figures adds up to the Esports World Cup having the highest tournament prize pool in esports history, at $60 million.
After Saturday separates the best from the rest, Sunday will feature grand finals in each of the three tournaments taking place in week six of the Esports World Cup.
The Esports World Cup, which began on July 3 and goes until August 25 at Boulevard City, will include 22 events spanning 21 titles over the course of eight weeks.
The Esports World Cup is set for a “Super Sunday” at Boulevard Riyadh City, including the grand finals for “Fortnite,” “Street Fighter 6,” and “Teamfight Tactics.” The semifinals of “Fortnite,” which will take place in the Amazon Arena within the SEF Arena on Boulevard Riyadh City, will pit American squad Exceed against French side Karmine Corp. The winner will face either Heroic, a cool Norwegian outfit, or the winner of the American XSET vs. Canadian Gaimin Gladiators match.
Eight players have advanced to the quarterfinals of “Street Fighter 6,” which is taking place at the Qiddiyah Arena within the SEF Arena. Five of these players are Japanese: Gachikun, Ryukichi, Hikaro, Kawano, and Higuchi. Emirati sensation AngryBird, American fighter NoahTheProdigy, and Korean gamer Leshar are all trying to win the Esports World Cup.
“Teamfight Tactics,” contested at the stc Arena, might include a Saudi Arabian team in the grand final, with Twisted Minds facing T1 in the semifinals. The victor of the match advances to face either Wolves Esports or Team Vitality in the final.
