Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake celebrates 100th anniversary of the Quadrifoglio

The Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Quadrifoglio – the famous green, four-leaf clover emblem that has been inextricably linked to Alfa Romeo as a synonym of the brand’s highest-performing vehicles over the previous century.

The tale of the Quadrifoglio originated on April 15, 1923, at the XIV Targa Florio, one of the world’s oldest automotive races, held outside Palermo, in Sicily, on the Madonie road course. The famous event, which included intense and extremely difficult racing, was one of the most important milestones for drivers at the time. The Sicilian race was significant for Alfa Romeo, which constructed a special version of their RL vehicle and hired the most capable drivers to compete. The Quadrifoglio made its debut on Ugo Sivocci’s RL Corsa at the time. Sivocci went on to win the Targa Florio that year, thanks to his abilities as well as a sequence of fortuitous circumstances, making the four-leaf clover even more noteworthy.

From that day forward, the Quadrifoglio has become an iconic symbol of Alfa Romeo, laying the groundwork for a long list of incredible motor racing achievements, including the first Grand Prix championship in 1925, the Mille Miglia, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, cementing Alfa Romeo’s place among the world’s top car manufacturers.

Nowadays, the Quadrifoglio signifies Alfa Romeo’s pure Italian sportiness and designates the brand’s highest-performing automobiles: the most powerful and rare road cars, as well as those competing in racing. The iconic four-leaf clover may still be seen on Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake’s 2023 Formula One challenger, the C43, proudly carrying on an astounding century-long tradition.
